Hosted by: Karen at Books and Chocolates.
Challenge period: 1st January to 31st December, 2018
Sign up: by 1st March, 2018
Aim: To encourage bloggers (and others) to read more classics.

More information and how to sign up can be found here.

The challenge is to read and review at least 6 books from 12 categories. As usual I had fun searching out the titles, most of

which came from my own bookshelves.

01. A 19th century classic: SPRINGHAVEN by R.D. Blackmore (1887)
02. A 20th century classic: PAYMENT DEFERRED by C.S. Forester (1926)
03. A classic by a woman author: MARY BARTON by Elizabeth Gaskell (1848)
04. A classic in translation: WITH FIRE AND SWORD by Henryk Sienkiewicz (1884)
05. A children's classic: THE CHILDREN OF THE NEW FOREST by Frederick Marryat (1847)
06. A classic crime story, fiction or non-fiction: THE MOONSTONE by Wilkie Collins (1868)
07. A classic travel or journey narrative, fiction or non-fiction: THREE MEN IN A BOAT by Jerome K. Jerome (1889)
08. A classic with a single-word title: SHIRLEY by Charlotte Bronte (1849)
09. A classic with a colour in the title: THE RIDER OF THE WHITE HORSE by Rosemary Sutcliff (1959)
10. A classic by an author that's new to you: SYBIL by Benjamin Disraeli (1845)
11. A classic that scares you: BARNABY RUDGE by Charles Dickens (1841) - because I've tried to read it before, or WAR AND PEACE by Leo Tolstoy (1867) - because of its length.
12. Re-read a favorite classic: THE TRUMPET MAJOR by Thomas Hardy (1880) or VANITY FAIR by William Makepeace Thackeray (1848)
